| personality | ||
On stage, Keiji can be quite a rocker. He sings his heart out, dances,
and can be what everyone thinks he is; a true star. In reality, it is
all an act. If he would have stated his true self, no one would even
believe him from his stage persona.
In heart, Keiji is a shy, naive, and very bashful man. It is easy
to get him to flush bright red, to hide away behind books, words, or
even other people. When he is nervous, flustered, embarrassed, or
when trying to hide something, Keiji will even begin to stutter out his
sentences and words. He hates crowds, he doesn't like giving
public speeches, and he would much prefer sitting at home reading a book
rather than going out and partying. If he didn't need the money so
badly, and he wasn't stuck under a contract, Keiji probably wouldn't
stand behind a microphone on stage. As it was, he wasn't the one
that signed the contract, it was his mother when he was a child.
There are very few that Keiji is comfortable enough to really break out
of his shell, and even then, he still converts to some of his quieter
and more shy behaviors.
| history | ||
Singing was a career that Keiji never had really wanted, but it was
something he had been good at. As a child, he would sing to the music
on the radio, dance to music videos he saw on TV, and there was no doubt
that he did have talent. Right after Keiji's father died when he was
in his very early teens, his mother did anything she could to get money.
Knowing he had talent in singing - despite his extremely shy nature - she
had signed him under Maruyama. The man was known to be able to make
instant success, but at a very high price that most would never know or
understand until it was too late; and they were not the exception.
In his early days of singing, Keiji was in the Japanese boy band Momento
Mori and have very high success within it. During the time, he
was very close to the Maruyama son - Ren. They were the two
quietest of the group, yet also the two most successful from the group
as well. Unfortunately the band did not last, and each of the boys
had went their own way.
As much as Keiji had wanted to keep contact with Ren, Maruyama Sr. had
forbade it, saying that it would make both of their careers harder than
it should be, and had made every attempt to keep them apart and to
forbade their friendship. As much as Keiji had wanted to not
listen to Maruyama Sr., there was too much to the man that he was
indebted. Keiji's mother was infected with a disease called
Muscular Dystrophy and her muscles were failing. There were too
many hospital bills, and Maruyama was covering for a great amount of
them.
As Muscular Dystrophy was genetic, Keiji had also inherited the disease
at an early age, but along with MD,
Cardiomyopathy came.
Cardiomyopathy, where Keiji's heart muscles became weak, was only formed
because of MD. Neither disease he knew about at the age that he
had formed it. He was tested several times, under Maruyama's
watch, and each time was 'negative'. However, he was given several
'vitamins' and went to several extra 'training sessions' which were
really only physical therapy and medicine in disguise to help with the
disease. It wasn't until he was older did he realize that he had
already formed the same disease as his mother, far too late to really do
much at all.
Although Keiji wasn't quite sure if his fate would reach his mother's,
he was a strong believer in fate. As little time as he knew was
possible that he had, even as much, he wanted more than just a life of
debt and singing; he wanted knowledge and a chance for something
greater. It was a late start, but he had taken to the United
States to UCLA to become a student again. He wanted to go to the
States only because there would be very few people that would actually
realize who he was, whereas in Asia if he went to college, it would be
harder to study with the distraction.
Still, as much as he wanted to stay away from the fame, he still fell
right back into it. Needing money to help pay for his medical
bills, his mothers, and to send money back home so his younger sister
wouldn't have to work, Keiji fell into acting. He did enjoy it,
but that still wasn't what he wanted out of a career, although he did
enjoy it much more than singing. Regardless, Keiji was still under
contract and label with Maruyama. Keiji still had to keep a solo
career with Japan, visit frequently and give his life for the man.
He figured he would quite possibly indebted to the label for life, and
he was willing to do that if it kept his sister out of making the same
mistakes.
Fate had a tricky way of becoming known however. During his fourth
year in the states, Keiji just happened to run into Ren. He knew
the man was somewhere in the general area, but he had no idea how close
they actually had been for quite some time. It couldn't have been
a better time for either of them. Ren was needing the emotional
support, where as Keiji was needing the physical support. It wouldn't be
long before Keiji's heart would start to fail. He as well as his
doctors were already expecting him to more than likely need a heart
transplant within the next year or two, if not sooner. Keiji
hadn't told anyone about this, no friends, no family. All that
knew were his doctors, and Maruyama Sr.
